Transition into Autumn with Victoria

Skinny Jeans: Madewell. Skinny Frosted Pants (black): Madewell. Dress: ASOS. Two Toned Riding Boots: Tommy Hilfiger. Checkered Flannel: Urban Outfitters.

Ahhh, autumn. Like most, autumn is my favorite season of the year. Autumn brings along crisp fall air, riding boots, college football (GO DAWGS!), sweater weather, ombre foliage, and homemade apple cider. It’s the cozy season; not too hot, but not too cold, yet. However, every time fall shimmies around the corner, transitioning your summer pieces into your autumn wardrobe, whilst maintaining your sensibility, can be pretty tough! I’m not recommending that you go along wearing your bright neon floral print top with white jeans and boots (big no, no), but I do have several tips for you to mix your beloved summer fashions, with all your seasonal autumn favorites.

Transition slowly, but confidently. You don’t want to go head first in to all your thickest sweaters, and biggest circle scarves. But if you really feel like sporting something like I stated above, just be like Beyoncé, and own every part of it! In the end, that’s the best piece of fashion advice anyone could ever have. If you have a particular muted or neutral summer dress, or anything that incorporates a fall color tone (anything jewel tones, rusts, golds, coppers, orange, rich reds, or basic neutrals), it can usually be mixed with other pieces in your fall wardrobe to create a good transition outfit. Stay away from shorts once fall rolls along, you don’t want to look weather confused by matching it with a boyfriend cardigan!

Instead, go for a dress, or cute skinnies in rich colors, and be careful with prints; if any print, opt for a cute leopard print or checkered flannel. One of my favorite transitional outfits for fall is pairing a simple dress, like my black a-line t-shirt dress from ASOS, with a cute fall toned flannel, a scarf, and flats, or ankle boots. You can get the same look with switching out a dress for a cute t-shirt or blouse and skinnies!

Once the weeks start getting cooler, it is time to nix the dresses, unless you’re wearing them with some cute cable knit tights underneath. Go for lots of fun layering and mix patterns and textures! Something that makes fall fashion so unique is mimicking the way nature showcases vibrant hues, with textures like crunchy leaves, and soft grass before it’s covered by morning dew. Have fun and be daring, make your fashion stand out above the rest! Other great things to try out is putting any button down or blouse under a patterned blazer for a preppy look, or sport your sorority pride by wearing a crew neck with your letters, a button down underneath and a super cute statement necklace! This time of year also now becomes a great time to pull those adorable two-toned riding boots out from your closet.

You can never go wrong with skinnies, of course! Wearing denim leggings may not keep you warm enough in the cooler months, so a great way to make sure your jeans don’t look bulky under your boots is to cuff the bottom, put your sock over, flatten the jean out with the sock, and then put your boot on. Regular skinnies, or my favorite from Madewell called the ‘Skinny Skinny Ankle’ are perfect throughout the earlier months of fall with flats or ankle boots, and are effortless to tuck into riding boots! The jean hits at your ankle, being the smallest part of the boot, so it lies flat. Coated black denim and biker zippers are in for fall, and compliment a lot of styles-try it out!

Scarves and sweaters are going to be your best friend when the crisp air becomes slightly more frigid. Try layering a fun button up over a t-shirt, and then add a cardigan or open sweater over the button up and roll up the sleeves once or twice. Top it off with a scarf and adorable gold jewelry to make your look finished and festive, or even a cute fleece or North Face puffer vest, and you’re good to go!

Happy Autumn!

My Favorite Online Boutiques-Serena Kamlani

Online shopping is easily one of my favorite pastimes. I find it rewarding to weed through thousands of things to find the perfect item at the best price. Plus, there’s something so exciting about knowing you have a package in the mail; knowing I have a little present waiting for me to be opened!  There are so many cute online boutiques that I thought I would share my TOP 4 favorite online boutiques!

My favorite place for my online shopping desires is definitely The Flaunt Shop.  One of my favorite things about The Flaunt Shop is that there’s a little something for everyone! From preppy bow back dresses to pretty lace panels to the perfect pair of boots for Autumn, The Flaunt Shop has it all! It’s reasonably priced and offers fast shipping through UPS, which is complimentary on orders over $100. They also recently released a game day line featuring clothes and accessories in college sports team colors, and they are constantly adding new schools to the mix! Additionally, there’s a huge selection of all black and all white dresses. These dresses are perfect for recruitment and initiation and are cute enough that you’d actually wear them again! The other awesome thing about The FlauntShop is they are constantly expanding the line.  For instance, I recently collaborated with them to start a California Collection which will feature edgier and a more laid back styles that are so popular in California—think Nasty Gal and Brandy Melville. After seeing some of the garments being added, I can safely say you won’t want to miss this one! Check out The Flaunt Shop on Instagram to stay updated!

My next favorite place to shop online is Tobi.  With a slogan like “from California with love,” Tobi is a bit edgier in general, more nightlife oriented, and very trendy. Think American Apparel meets Urban Outfitters. If I want the perfect crop top, dress with a lot of cut-outs, or ultra high platform shoes, Tobi is my go-to. It’s also very wallet friendly since new arrivals are always discounted.  Additionally, Tobi offers 50% off your first order for all new members. Shipping is lightening-fast, especially if you’re on the West coast since Tobi is based out of San Francisco.  Tobi’s styles are a lot sexier in nature and definitely appeals to a college aged audience. They also post the cutest outfit ideas with their clothes on Instagram, so make sure to check them out!

Now this this one is a bit of a hassle, but if you truly want that dress you saw on Pinterest, it probably came from XeniaBoutique. Some of you may have seen my picture in the Summer Dress It Girl Trend Report of the white dress with the big bow on the back? Yep, that came from Xenia.  Xenia is based out of Australia, so ignore the seasonal arrivals because you’ll just end up confused since their seasons are opposite of ours. The downfall about Xenia is that since things have to ship overseas, it takes a little extra time and all orders are $15 for shipping, so buy everything you want at once. I’ve also occasionally had issues with the way things fit or are made—the white dress arrived with a broken clasp, and two dresses in different colors of the exact same style and size ended up fitting very differently. However, I find it worth it because the clothes are just so darn cute. To get a glimpse of the most recent items, look at their Instagram.

Swanky Doll is near and dear to me because Stephanie, the owner, started her shop so she could stay at home with her son to work.  Swanky Doll started out selling exclusively customized bows, like the ones featured on The Sorority Secrets a while back (Read Here). She offers bows in a variety of fabrics and designs including Lilly Pulitzer prints! However, she has begun expanding her line to lanyards, vanity trays, key chains, and more, all of which will be available in the coming weeks. Another great part about Swanky Doll is you can customize your bows with your monogram! Catch Swanky Doll on Instagram for their latest updates!

Happy shopping, everyone!

A Touch Of Grunge

Shoes: Converse.  Shorts: Urban Renewal.  Sunglasses: Ray Ban.

Grunge has come a long way since the 90's, and we're loving the little touches of it that we're seeing in fall fashion.  Plaid, army fatigues, and distressed anything (denim, leather, vintage tees... you name it) are turning up everywhere.  For a spin on the usual plaid shirt styling, try it tied around your waist for a carelessly cool vibe.  It's disheveled, it's fresh, and it feels new all over again.  Plus, with some added feminine touches, it can be surprisingly girly!

Now, we could go pairing this outfit with some combat boots... or even better, some chunky-soled Dr. Martens.  But if you don't want to go that far with the look, we suggest pairing it with some cute & classic Chucks.  They're the perfect simple addition to complete the ensemble, as shown by It Girls Cristina and Allie.

This fall, we're throwing on our flannels and getting grunge-chic.  Can't wait!

First Date Perfection

Look One.  Peach Dress: similar here.  Platform Sandals: Jessica Simpson.
Look Two.  Blouse: Express.  Jeans: 7 For All Mankind.  Shoes: Vince Camuto (similar here).
Look Three.  Dress: RVCA.

First dates, so exciting but at the same time a little stressful. So many things are going through your mind, but most girls are usually worried about one thing... what to wear!  The perfect first date outfit is not necessarily about the brand you are wearing, but instead an outfit that brings out your confidence. What you wear on a first date tells a guy a lot about your personality, so you want to bring out your inner beauty with the right outfit selection. Here are a few tips that will hopefully help for your future first dates!

Tip one: wear something that is classy but flirty. Something like a fuller skirt, flirty dress. Dresses like this are super flattering-- they radiate confidence, and feminine charm! Throw in some chunky heels and statement accessories for a night on the town.  I love this sweet peach dress with the touches of lace, it's date night perfection!

Tip two: wear something with a pop of color.  Leave the black and grey for the office! Wearing color shows off the vibrant side of your personality. The blouses from Express are classy and cute, and come in a bunch of pretty colors.  When choosing a color, choose something that compliments your skin tone. Your date will think you're a knock out!

Tip three: don’t feel the need to get too dolled up. Some first dates could be going to a sports game, or a lunch date. Go with something that is comfortable but fitting, like a maxi dress with summer sandals.  This one from RVCA has become one of my personal favorites!

Hopefully these tips can help alleviate some of those first date jitters.  Always remember to be your beautiful and unique self, and just have fun!
