A Girl's Guide To Paris

Paris, France is one of the most magical cities that we've fallen in love with. The language, the culture, the buildings, the people--it's all so mesmerizing. Many of our sorority sisters had the privilege of studying abroad in Europe and Paris was one of their favorite destinations. After hearing all of the hype, Co Founder Karen finally made her way over to Paris last October and it was love at first sight. Since Paris is on our honeymoon and bucket list, we asked Karen to share with us a must-see list of things to do and see while in Paris. Check out her recommendations below! Have any suggestions? Share with us in the comments!

L A N D M A R K S
Well, first things first: visit the Eiffel Tower (duh!). If you have time, actually go to the top of it and admire the amazing view. At night, the Eiffel Tower lights up too so it's definitely a cool site to see. The Grande Arche de la Défense, which is at the business neighborhood of La Défense, is a tourist must-see. It gives you a great view of the Arc de Triomphe in front of you. Going to the Arc de Triomphe you will be able to see and shop on the Champs-Élysées. Trocadéro is where you can take a great picture and have a great view of the Eiffel Tower while witnessing the beautiful golden column. Le Champ de Mars is a large public green space near the Eiffel Tower as well and is great for a picnic. Le Quai d'Orsay is also a touristy place and if you feel naughty as my friend would say, the Moulin Rouge is pretty cool. Versailles (also known as The Palace of Versailles) is a must-see piece of historical architecture. The Locks of Love bridge is fun to go to (bring a lock!). Consider even doing a boat cruise on the Seine River!

Châtelet Les Halles is where you can do some affordable shopping. If you're into high-end fashion then visiting the Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Élysées is a must. Add visiting the Christian Louboutin store and the Chanel store to your list. If you get to the Chanel store in time, ask for a tour of Chanel's old flat which is around the corner from the store (keep in mind, it's likely they won't allow you to take pictures in the store).

You could spend an entire day at the The Musée du Louvre (a museum), but prepare to wait in a long line. Another notable place to go to is Notre Dame Church. It is the church inspired from the Bossu de Notre Dame book. Though the line to get in was long, it was worth the wait. Montmartre has great cafes to chill after visiting the Sacré-Couer church (a popular Roman Catholic church).

You can't go to Paris, France without munching on some macaroons. Ladurée on Champs-Élysées is the place to go for some yummy macarons. Wine, cheese, croissants, frites, crepes and baguettes should be on your radar since France is known for these tasty delights. Here are a list of some more places to dine at:
  • L'Avenue (good breakfast)
  • Moutarde Street-Opéra (American style food)
  • Rose Bakery (breakfast, brunch, coffee & tea--plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians)
  • La Bulle (upscale French bistro)
  • Bar à Gaufres (sweet and savory waffles that are gluten-free)
  • Le Market (The menu is a mix of Asian/Japanese with more traditional French dishes)
  • Breizh Café, Little Breizh, and Creperie Framboise (delicious crepes)
  • Café Latéral (good for lunch near Arc de Triomphe)
  • Angelina (pricey, but iconic restaurant)
  • Académie de la Bière (awesome Roquefort mussels and frites (fries)!)
N I G H T L I F E
If you want to hang out at night the party place to find bars and night clubs is de la Bastille. It is the spot to be with a young crowd. Try Rue de Lappe which is located in the heart of the Bastille just between Rue de la Roquette and Rue de Charonne. Rue de Lappe offers dozens of bars and restaurants that attract just about everyone from locals to visitors.

When in doubt, just consult your concierge at your hotel or do some Googling to find the best places to wander to in Paris. Paris cannot be conquered in a day (although you can try!) so take your time and live in the moment.

Au revoir!

Why You Should Buy T.Swift's New Album

Ok, so we're willing to admit it. We are major T.Swift fans. We may or may not have cried when Kanye stole her award moment during the VMAs a couple of years ago. We also may or may not blast her albums during our break ups while eating a carton of ice cream. If you haven't already heard, Taylor Swift has been working on a new album for a couple of years now and it finally dropped today. Here are a few reasons why we will be buying Taylor Swift's new album, 1989.

1) Besides being one of the most talented vocalists in the music game, Taylor Swift is a trend setter. Don't tell us you haven't had an urge to buy red lipstick after seeing T.Swift rock them so well (Hint: MAC has really awesome red lip colors like this one).

2) Three words: Road trip music. How many albums can you say you've been able to listen through it from start to finish? Taylor is notorious for providing the most upbeat, catchy tunes a girl could ask for. No fast forwarding over here.

3) Her music is a free therapy session. Taylor Swift is so relatable. She goes through every day woman hardships like the rest of us. More notably are her tunes about getting over guys. Her music uplifts you and gets you through it.

4) Everyone else will have it. I mean, who wants to fall off the Taylor Swift band wagon?

Have we convinced you to buy the album too? We've made it simple for you and have provided a link directly to her new album here.

Enjoy and let us know what you think of 1989!

The Art of Networking

Networking is the key to so much success. It has helped us build our personal businesses, leading the way to bigger and better opportunities. For most people, networking is a daunting task. So many thoughts run through your mind: "What should I wear?" "Who should I talk to?" "How long should I mingle?" All of these thoughts are valid and we are here to share with you the art of networking at an event with these easy and helpful tips.

Wear something cute & bright.
It may sound like surface stuff, but sparking a conversation about your outfit is a sure fire way to successfully start a conversation. More than likely you are going to hear "Omg, I love your outfit!" and boom there is your foot in the door. Similarly, you complimenting someone you want to chat with is a great way to ease into a legitimate conversation. Rent The Runway is an awesome place to rent a classic, cute, bright dress for a networking event.

Let the other person speak about themselves first.
Even if you're dying to speak with someone important who could help you with your business or help you land a job, learn about THEM first. Ask them about what they do and their interests and then slowly segue into who you are and what you're hoping to get from them. It takes it from being a boring "elevator pitch" to a meaningful conversation.

Bring your business cards (even if you don't have a business, per sé).
Business cards are the face of who you are as a business or as a person. Many people make the mistake of thinking that business cards are only for established businesses....WRONG! YOU are a business too. Selling yourself is important so create a business card that displays you, your interests, and your contact information. Look at your business card as your mini résumé!

Be selective.
Just because you are at networking event, doesn't mean that you have to talk to every single person. You will exhaust yourself and chances are, the event won't allot you that much time to have meaningful conversations with everyone. With that being said, do your research beforehand and strategically think of who you want to spend your time networking with.

Bring a friend with different interests than yours.
It is all about tag teaming when you bring a friend with you to a networking event. It is best to bring a friend who does not have the same exact interest as you, that way you're not feeling like you're competing with each other. You can both help each other work the crowd. Not only will they make you feel more comfortable because you actually know someone in the crowd, but you can use them to help with conversations. They can highlight things about you in conversation and make connections as they network too.

Now, you should be ready to take networking by the reigns and shine. Do you have any helpful tips that you use to make networking easier? Then, share with us below in the comments!

Happy Networking!

5 Must-Have Fall Boots

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
Even though it's super hot in Arizona right now, it doesn't stop us from dusting off our favorite Fall boots we've tucked away in our closets. Lucky for Co-Founder, Karen, she's had the chance to rock her boots in Seattle, Washington (jealous).  In Arizona back when we were in college, you knew it was Fall when all the sorority girls on campus had on UGGS (in 90 degree weather of course...haha). If you want to jump on the boots train then check out our favorite pairs above. Every girl should have a classic black boot in their Fall wardrobe so that's why we love this 'Andora' Over-the-Knee Boot from Nordstrom. Brown boots are no different! There are so many shades to choose from with brown boots, but our favorite color is a more tannish tone like this 'Pondrosa' Suede Boot from Nordstrom. Pair your boots with stylish jeans or a cute dress with tights. However you choose to wear your boots, rock them with confidence!

Style tip: When you buy your boots, be sure to get socks that are easy to wear with boots. It will make a world of a difference down there!
