Easy Super Bowl Recipe

Co Founder, Karen, is a Seahawks' fan so of course she cannot wait for the Super Bowl! Like her and probably many other fans, she will be hosting a Super Bowl party. No Super Bowl party is complete with out food, drinks, friends, and football. But, the most important would be the food! Whether you decide to order pizza, KFC, or grill some hotdogs and hamburgers, it is always good to have variety. One of our favorite items to make the most amazing dishes is a crock pot. Slow cookers can make the most amazing dishes from meatballs, to tasty dips, to rice and beans and much more. Target is one of the best places to get a variety of crock pots. To help you with a Super Bowl crock pot recipe, Boulder Organic, has shared with us a special recipe they've suggested that is the perfect dish. Check out all the details below and get excited for Sunday's Football Showdown!

Boulder Organic's Souper Easy Super Bowl Pulled Pork

Where To Celebrate New Year's Eve 2015

Tomorrow is Christmas which means you have 6 days from then to figure out what you will be doing for New Year's Eve. While there have been many years where we have loved to watch the ball drop in New York at the comfort of our home, we have really enjoyed ringing in the New Year outside of our home. Last year, Co Founder, Karen, had so much fun in Seattle at the Bonza Bash that she plans on attending again. Co Founder Sakura had fun dressing up at a NYE house party. We decided to come up with a list of places that you can consider around the nation to party like it's 2015. Below are direct links to the event pages. As always, consider the cost and your level of comfort when deciding on a place. We have found that reserving a table at a venue and splitting it with friends is always the most cost effective, logical, and comfortable route. Also consider checking out clubZone where they filter out all the NYE parties happening in the United States and Canada and NewYearsEve.com!

Are missing events on this list? Share with us in the comments below!
  1. Bonza Bash-Seattle, WA
  2. 4th Annual OC Midnight Kiss New Years-Wyndham Hotel-Anaheim, CA

The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

Oh, the joy of Valentine’s Day! Heart shaped candy, flowers, love in the air…and, of course, the constant reminder that you’re single.  Now on the 21st year of my solo V-Day Streak, I like to think of myself as somewhat of a Veteran. As an expert in the field, the one lesson I have learned from February 14th is that, yes, you may be painfully aware of your single status, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. College is a time for self-discovery. This is the only point in a girl’s life where she is allowed to be completely, utterly, unforgivingly, selfish and stupid. Make mistakes, take risks, and most importantly, don’t ever apologize for being who you want to be. So, put down the Ben and Jerry’s, turn off “The Notebook,” grab your best girlfriends and make this V-Day a celebration of being young, single, and absolutely fabulous! *Cue “Independent” by Webbie*

Here are some ideas on how to make your single and sassy V-Day your best one yet:

1.     Throw a Party: What better way to celebrate than a few cupcakes, a little vino, and Beyoncé on repeat? For a fun little twist, do a Valentine’s gift exchange with your friends.

2.     Movie Date: not in the mood to party? Luckily there are a variety of movies premiering on Valentine’s Day this year. If you’re in the mood for romance? Find a show time for “Endless Love.” Two words: Alex Pettyfer. Feeling extra lonely? Opt for the movie “Her” and be thankful you’re not in love with a talking computer. And if you’re just looking for some laughs, check out Kevin Hart’s new comedy, “About Last Night.”

3.     Appreciate Yourself: Make this day about you by treating your body to a relaxing day of self-indulgence. Take hot yoga class, or a long walk to your favorite nearby spot. Eat healthy, because your body deserves to be treated well. Find a local spa or splurge on a mani-pedi.  Just feel like sleeping in? Do it! This day should be about you.

4.     GNO: That’s right, I’m not afraid of a little vintage Miley.  If you’re not familiar with the song, I’m talking about a classic Girl’s Night Out. Go out to dinner, hit your local bar or dance spot, and make the most of your night!

Nordstrom Topshop In-Store Party

Can you believe it?!  It's already been almost ONE YEAR since the launch of TSS.  The past year has flown by, and we knew that we had to do something fabulous to celebrate.  We teamed up with TOPSHOPxNordstrom at Chandler Fashion Center (near Phoenix, Arizona) for a shopping event & anniversary celebration!

We shopped, we styled, we took pictures, we sipped on lemonade.  It was truly a very special day for us, as we mixed and mingled with our readers.  Oh and did we mention, the clothing from TOPSHOP is adorable!!  We were loving the rompers, statement pieces, and the touch of British style that TOPSHOP incorporates into their pieces.  We're thrilled that Nordstrom has a TOPSHOP department, so we can get our shopping fix!  You can shop online and at select Nordstrom locations for TOPSHOP gear.

Thank you to everyone who came to the event, and of course to our readers for a fantastic first year.  What does the new year have in store??  Well, you'll have to stay tuned to see!

A very special Thank You to Nordstrom, TOPSHOP, and Abbey Kleinsmith
for putting the party together!

Ali's "I Do" Diary: Bridesmaid Proposal Boxes

Craft Supplies: Michaels

Here comes the bride... and it's our very own TSS Co-Founder, Ali!  Yes that's right, Ali and her honey Jon are tying the knot in May of next year, and we will be documenting their journey along the way.  We love weddings, and Ali is beyond excited to share her tips and ideas with all of our readers.  And yes, we will be there when they share their "I do's" too!  For other brides-to-be or those dreaming of their big day, we hope that we can provide a little dose of wedded inspiration!  We are thrilled to announce Ali's "I Do" Diary column... take it away, Ali!

Ali's "I Do" Diary: June 19, 2013.
Little girls dream of planning their big day with their prince charming, and I am so lucky to have found the man of my dreams.  Now that we've set a date and started putting our plans together, I needed to do something else that was very important-- ask my best girlfriends to stand by my side!  My wedding day wouldn't be complete without the girls (and sorority sisters) that I've shared my favorite memories, laughs, and cries with too.  Because they mean so much to me, I wanted to do something special when asking them to be my bridesmaid.  So, I decided to "pop" the question!

I'm a bit of a Pinterest fanatic, so naturally I went right to Pinterest when looking for bridesmaid inspiration.  I came across a few ideas involving Ring Pops, and I knew it was the perfect way to ask my girls!  Sweet, creative, and a little silly, it described what I was going for perfectly.  I headed straight to Michaels with my color scheme (light pink) in mind, and got down to crafty business!

I used natural cardboard gift boxes, scrapbook paper, rubber stamps, stickers, pink paper shreds, gift ribbon, and of course the key ingredient- Ring Pops.  Double sided tape made for an easy (and less messy) adhesive to attach the scrapbook paper to the boxes.  Testing out the rubber stamps on some scrap paper first was helpful to get a system down just right.  Once I put the boxes together, I tied them with a bow, and voilà!  An adorable little bridesmaid proposal box was complete!  I added a personal note with each box, and sent them on their way.  Hearing each of their reactions was priceless; I'm so happy to have asked my bridesmaids to be a part of our special day in a creative way!

I can't wait to share more bits and pieces of our wedding planning with all of you!  More to come soon!

Mini Fiesta

Are you ready for one of the biggest celebrations of the year where sombreros, margaritas, and tortillas are the norm for the day?! We are! It's time for CINCO DE MAYO!! May 5th in the United States is a day of celebration for Mexican heritage and pride. If you're thinking of putting together a mini fiesta, here are some of the essentials you will need to make it un perfecto:

#1 Decorations

Where red, green, yellow, and orange are just some of the typical fiesta colors, decoration must haves include: fiesta table cloth, maracas, pinatas, fiesta colored paper lanterns, festive lights, fiesta colored streamers, napkins, plates, and cutlery. Use cute fiesta-inspired printables to decorate everything on your food table. Check out these cute, free printables here! Sombreros and 'staches are fun fiesta-wear so incorporate them in your decor too! There are always sections in every party store, like Party City, dedicated to Cinco de Mayo decorations so get creative!

#2 Food & Drinks

It's time for some south-of-the-border tasty fun! Food & drink must haves include: icy cold Mexican drinks, chips & salsa, guacamole, chicken-tortilla soup, 7-layer dip, chilli, quesadillas, burritos and tacos. Since tacos are more of a main course, set up a taco bar! Use colorful trays to separate all the toppings – cheese, lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, olives, and choices of salsa. For dessert, have churros & sopapillas! Click here for specific Cinco de Mayo recipes!

#3 Entertainment

Although bringing in professional Mexican dancers would make for an authentic experience, save some money and select a station on Pandora or simply download traditional Mexican music from Amazon or iTunes!

We hope you are now ready to plan your next Cinco de Mayo mini fiesta!
