Things To Stop Doing If You're Broke

It's officially spring now so that means SPRING CLEANING! Time to clean up old habits, one of which is overspending. If you're having a crisis money moment, here are a couple of things to consider before you run your wallet dry:

1. Do you really deserve that jacket? If you're anything like us we have this thing where we think we deserve anything with a price tag! Haha! Eh, not so fast. What's more important? Your bills getting paid or that temporarily cool jacket?
2. If you're going to go out, opt for bread and soup. I know this sounds crazy, but work with us. If you just can't say no to going out to eat, order the cheapest thing on the menu. Your friends won't even notice.
3. Make a budget and then only carry cash. If you tell yourself that you can only spend "xyz" and then take it out in cash, then you can't overspend.
4. Walk, walk, walk if you can. That will totally save money on gas.
5. Consider leisure activities that don't require spending money like watching movies at home with your sisters streamed from your computer or taking a nice bike ride outside.
6. Cancel subscriptions you can live without. Yup, that means Netflix!

All in all, when you're going broke, you don't want to be homeless so budget and be conscious of your spending so you can be out of the red zone!

What To Say When They Ask: Why Are You Still Single?

If you haven't heard the "Why are you still single?" question then just know it's coming from someone whether it's at your beloved nail salon or from your sweet mother who simple wants some grand children to keep her company. But, don't get too uptight whenever anyone asks you this, because this is your moment to set the record straight so there is no confusion on where you stand. Being single is probably one of the greatest things you can offer yourself, especially in your twenties. You shouldn't be chasing after love; it will fall into your lap when you least expect it. But, in order for "the one" to find you, you've got to be prepared to meet him. That means working on your flaws and perfecting yourself so that you're ready to be in a relationship and give the best of you that you can. A part of growing and evolving into the person you were meant to be, is by embarking on life adventures on your own. There will come a time where it will be about that bond with your significant other, but hopefully by then you have dug deep within yourself so that you have a sense of personal identity.

So, in a nutshell: Tell them that you're still discovering who you are and preparing yourself to be found by the man of your dreams.

Self-realization and self-love is the best kind of love.

Owning a pet is a lifetime duty. If this is not what you had in mind you might want to consider not getting a pet. We took it to the TSS reader streets to hear some of your reasons for owning or not owning a pet and we enjoyed reading your feedback. Ashlee Sides (@TSSerendip) shared that she owns two dogs and that she things she considered were TIME to give the pet, MONEY to provide for them, PATIENCE, and the amount of LOVE that the pet is bound to give. These were great points! Focusing on TIME, that is by far the most important thing to consider in our book because it is all encompassing. Will you have the time to walk or cuddle with your pet? Will you have the time to feed them throughout the day? TSS Co Founder, Sakura, has a pet of her own (you might know him by Instagram name, @HelloWinston...haha!) and shared that even though the time it takes to tend to her dog is a lot, she wouldn't trade it for the world. She loves dressing him up and recently "bought" him this super cute Wildfox eyemask--lol! It's all about compromise and balance.
