How To Have a Stress-Free Finals Week

Oh the dreaded finals week. We have definitely been there and done that, and trust us, we DON'T miss it. But, for those of you going through it, we wanted to offer some advice on how to have a stress-free finals week.

Step 1: Gather your study guides.

If your sorority was anything like ours, we had study guides galore so if you're a sorority girl, take advantage of the resources from your sisters. Even if you're not a sorority girl, simply connecting with friends or acquaintances in class who have study guides will be a lifesaver.

Step 2: Pack snacks.

Let's face it, you will be calling the library your home, so grab some Ziplock bags and start loading up on study food. Of course, consider healthy options like carrots, apples with peanut butter, raisins, granola bars, bananas....you know, the basics. Save the meals for outside of the library or coffee shop to give yourself a little break.

Step 3: Avoid the "party" study table.

You know what we are talking about. You know, the friends who don't really come to the library to study, but to gossip and well, distract YOU. Remove yourself from that scene by either A) Reserving a quiet study room for yourself or B) Reserving a table for a dedicated group of students willing to only study. Truth be told you're going to get side tracked every now and again, but it's better to study with a group willing to get you back on track.

If you feel like you're easily distracted, make a playlist you can study to and plug your headphones in.

Step 4: Take a break.

Do jumping jacks. Play Candy Crush. Lay outside on the lawn. Visit your cafeteria. Do anything BUT study. Give your brain a breather and don't try to cram too many things into it. After all, you're honestly not going to remember it all (though you so desperately want to).

Step 5: Get some shut eye.

While we know those energy drinks and coffee are bound to keep you up, don't fight sleep. Your brain cannot function properly when you're tired so it's pretty much useless trying to stay up studying when chances are you're not going to register everything. At that point you're just a zombie. Go home, give your brain a break as you rest your pretty little head on your pillow and just be sure to set an alarm before so you're ready to attack the studying again first thing in the morning.

Step 6: Accept your best.

The day before your exam, just accept your knowledge base. If you did your study guides and practice quizzes and participated in all the assignments throughout the semester or quarter, then you already know your abilities. Keep in mind that test anxiety is very real and can have an impact on your performance. It does not accurately portray how smart you are. Just try not to sweat about not knowing all of the answers. Just try your hardest and accept your best.

Good luck with finals!

Which Victoria's Secret Model Are You?

So, tonight is the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. We know, "it came sooooo fast!". Remember when we collaborated with Victoria's Secret? We absolutely love Victoria's Secret if you haven't already guessed (hint, hint Christmas present). Time to dust off your angel wings, clear off your couch, gather the girls and be super jelly at all the VS Fashion Models on the runway. Rumor has it Ariana Grande got hit by one of the Angels on the runway (ouch!). Speaking of the Angels, wouldn't it be nice to know which VS Model you are? We found this fun, cheesy quiz on QuoteV that tells you just what VS Model you are. Can you guess which one of us got Cara Delevingne?! Take the quiz here and share with us below or on Facebook!

You can catch the Victoria's Secret Fashion show tonight at 10/9c on CBS!

P.s. Go to Victoria's Secret website after the show for an online after party. They've got another surprise after the show ends. Check the site at 11PM EST.

How To Successfully Travel Internationally

Traveling to different countries is high on our priorities list! Last summer Sakura traveled to Japan (where half of her family is from) and last year Karen traveled to Paris and London. Karen loved it so much that she went back to Paris again this year (see our "A Girl's Guide To Paris" post). With all of our travels, we have collected a lot of information to help us make our travels easier. We want to share with you our tips/advice as you make your plans to travel abroad. Find our tips/advice below with direct links to many important things we think you should get. Leave a comment in the comments section below with any other tips you have for successfully traveling internationally.
  • Print your boarding pass and receipts.
  • Wear comfortable clothing, especially socks.
  • Always double look-double look your home prior to leaving to make sure you didn't leave anything behind, double check your taxi as you exit it, double check the security tray at the airport.
  • Guard your passport with your life! Have a special passport holder (here is a super cute passport holder from Target)
  • Wear glasses if you are a contacts wearer (it's likely you will fall asleep and it's no fun waking up with sticky eyes).
  • Carry on a toothbrush, hand sanitizer, and makeup wipes.
  • Weigh your bags before you leave the house (click here for an awesome, cheap luggage weight)
  • Download Viber and/or WhatsApp so you can make calls for free whenever you have Wifi.
  • However, we recommend paying for a temporary Hotspot via your phone provider because not everywhere has Wifi and it can be difficult to navigate a different country without an internet connection at the drop of a dime.
  • Bring a portable charger. When you're exploring, you don't want your phone to die!
  • Exchange your currency in your city airport to avoid the other country's fees.
  • Download iTranslate & Currency Converter app. For traveling to Europe, use the Euro to Dollar app.
  • Buy ear plugs!
  • Get locks for your suitcase. In some airports they open up your luggage if they can.
  • Buy European Adapter plugs (for those traveling to Europe). American plugs will not work in their outlets.
  • Lastly, if you're going to bring your own hair blow dryer be sure to use a voltage converter (different than an outlet adapter). While not all hotels or hostels have the type of hair blow dryer you would prefer, using your own could cause an explosion or fire.
Safe travels!

Paper Source and Michael's are our absolute favorite places to shop for unique paper and craft items. Above we have chosen some of our favorite gift wrapping looks. Try them out and show us your best gift wrapping looks by hashtagging #TSSGiftWrapping.

Now, get to wrapping those gifts!

P.s. If you REALLY can't wrap if you're life depended on it, many malls and department stores offer complimentary or with donation gift wrapping.

Thanksgiving Leftovers Recipe

If you're like us, then you probably stuffed yourself to the brim this Thanksgiving leaving no room for thirds or fourths (be honest, you went for seconds!). Well, there is no point in throwing away your leftovers so we stumbled across an awesome Thanksgiving Leftover Recipe from one of our favorite food blogs, Hot Dog It's a Food Blog. It's called the Cheddar Mashed Potato Waffle Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwich and well, our mouths are watering just typing that. Get the recipe below and try making it yourself. It's pretty simple! Thanks for letting us share, HDFB!

Cheddar Mashed Potato Waffle Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwiches
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups leftover mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup buttermilk or whole milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp. chopped herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated white cheddar
  • your Thanksgiving leftovers, reheated if needed
Directions:

In a large mixing bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes and milk until smooth. Add in the eggs, 1 at a time, mixing well in between additions. Fold in the chopped herbs.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and add into the mashed potato mixture. Mix well until combined. Fold in the cheeses and mix well once more.

Preheat your waffle maker and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Cook about 1/4-1/2 cup of batter at a time, depending on how big your waffle maker is, until nice and golden brown.

Place the reheated leftovers between two waffle slices and enjoy.
